Sketchin'

Going a bit of the traditional media approach for today's Gabe and Snare sketch. I dunno what it is about the concept of a talking head but Snare has to be one of my favourite characters of the series so far.

Welcome aboard, Naomi!

Its time to take off the covers and embrace 2016, and with that I am very excited to announce the new editor and co collaborator of From Above, Naomi Woodward!
An aspiring Xmas Bon Bon joke specialist, Naomi grew up reading Peanuts from the age of 9 and wishing she could own Betty's entire wardrobe from Archie comics.
She's the type of person who if she had a super power it would be predicting the future through a series of majorly traumatizing nightmares and yet she's one of the most bubbly and effervescent people I know.
Through our initial meetings and sit downs already, I've been blown away by the insight and value Naomi will be able to bring to the book. It's certainly going to give me a serious kick up the pants!
And so with no further ado I'd like to welcome Naomi aboard the From Above team! She'll also be popping up at cons (with or without fairy wings I can't be sure) and helping to bring From Above to the next level.
Please make her feel welcome!

Trying to get back into the daily sketches

Trying to get back in the swing of things sketch wise... My b grade sense of humor has obviously not improved any.

Gabe costume progress from G8way studios

When you get to see stuff like this it really makes creating a comic series unbelieveably worthwhile. Check out these pics of Steve Jordan from G8way studios progress on his Gabe costume. Nothing short of awesome!
Also have a link to his Youtube clip to give you some insight to how he has gone about making it.
Seriously awesome stuff! Thanks Steve :)

Skylanders Superchargers Issue 4

Super stoked to reveal my first published work for IDW comes out today. I did the Subscription variant cover for Skylanders Superchargers issue 4 as well as an internal 4 page short story sequentials and damn did the colorists do a sensational job on both the cover and sequentials!

From Above in 2016

Suffice to say that for both good and bad reasons, From Above became a little derailed in the second half of 2015. 2016 is a fresh slate however with some new and exciting developments on the horizon.

We currently have Issue 8 under development as well as the forthcoming announcement as well as some reshuffling in the creative team and welcoming aboard of a new collaborator.

Stay tuned as we'll have some new updates in this regard very soon.

Bring on 2016!

Happy New Year

It's been a bit quiet for me on the social media front of late but I thought it a good opportunity to come out of obscurity to wish everyone a very happy new year.

2015 was a bit of a roller coaster year for me seeing some amazing highs (getting a lifelong dream break and scoring some work on a prominent title for a major US publisher) and then also possibly an all time low when my wife and sole mate of 12 years announced she was leaving me for my best friend.
I like to consider myself a fairly positive person but I'd be lying if I didn't say that if it wasn't for some amazing friends and family and my two beautiful dogs that there had been some dark times when perhaps I considered 2015 just a little too much.

That said, 2016 is a new year and a time for some new beginnings. It'll hopefully me see to start to get back on track with the book and some other amazing projects I'm lucky enough to be working on.
On behalf of Oreo, Leela and myself I'd like to wish you all a prosperous 2016 full of joy and hope.
